5 Things you didn't know about Drake.

Arguably one of the best musicians to ever emerge from North America, Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham popularly known with his middle name "Drake" will be the celebrity we  will be discussing this weekend.
 Here are some of the things you might not have known about the Toronto born song

1. HE STARTED OFF AS AN ACTOR

  That's right people.  Drake initially gained recognition as an actor on television series "Degrassi:The Next Generation" in the early years after the turn of the century. But he later decided to dump acting and focus more his music career in 2007. Signing for Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment in 2009.


2. DRAKE DIDN'T HAVE AN EASY CHILDHOOD

  Aubrey had a pretty difficult period of growing up. His parents got divorced when he was just 5 years of age and he was raised almost single handedly by his mother. He attended the Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, where his talent for acting began to blossom. He later attended Vaughan Road Academy in Oakwood. Drake described the school as "being tough". He was a victim of racial abuse and was relentlessly bullied. After his acting career began to pick up pace, he dropped out of school. Wait you mean Drake isn't a graduate? wrong, he went back to school and graduated back in 2012.

3. CONTROVERSIAL DRAKE

      Rappers are more often than not, controversial, and the "hotline bling" singer has been no different. Drake has never been far away from controversies all through his career. He hasn't had the best of relationships with Chris Brown amongst others.
        Drake's run in with Brown has been widely reported to have involved a physical alteration in 2012, when Drake and his associates threw bottles at Brown in a night club in New York city. Weeks after the incident the R&B singer released a song criticising Drake's behavior.
     It didn't stop there,  Drake was punched by American rapper, Diddy outside of a night club in Miami, Florida.
     He was also involved in a heated feud with Tyga, coming from the negative comments made by Tyga towards him in an interview with a magazine, vibe. It is widely believed that Drake had a hand in Tyga's abrupt dismissal from Young Money Entertainment.
      This dude(Drake) has had feuds with Ludachris, DMX, JayZ,  the list goes on and on and on.









4.Drake's Achievements

   Drake has been ranked number one on complex's list of "Best Rappers Alive Every Year Since 1979".
     He has been nominated 27 times for the Grammy's winning on one occasion, added to that, he has won 2 MTV Video Music Awards and has had four of his songs been certified platinum in the U.S as of July 2016.



5. GLOBAL AMBASSADOR OF THE TORONTO RAPTORS

          Drake was announced as the Toronto Raptors "global ambassador"  in 2012. His role ranges from promoting the NBA franchise to redesigning the team's image and clothing line. Drake in an interview with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO, Tom Leiweke, said he was "extremely dedicated" to it and sees the role as a "a new chapter" in his life.

Drake released his fourth studio album, views, earlier this year.
